Matthew 14:5 - ܘܨܳܒ݂ܶܐ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܠܡܶܩܛܠܶܗ ܘܕ݂ܳܚܶܠ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܡܶܢ ܥܰܡܳܐ ܕ݁ܰܐܝܟ݂ ܕ݁ܠܰܢܒ݂ܺܝܳܐ ܐܰܚܺܝܕ݂ܺܝܢ ܗ݈ܘܰܘ ܠܶܗ ܀

Translations

(Etheridge) And he would have killed him, but he feared the people, because as a prophet they held him.

(Murdock) And he had wished to kill him; but he was afraid of the people, seeing that they regarded him as a prophet.

(Lamsa) So Herod wanted to kill him, but he was afraid of the people, because they accepted him as a prophet.

(KJV) And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.
