Translations

(Etheridge) NOW it was in those days that there went forth a mandate from Augustus Caesar to enrol the people of his dominion.

(Murdock) And in those days it occurred, that a decree went forth from Augustus Caesar, that all the people of his dominion should be enrolled.

(Lamsa) AND it happened in those days that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, to take a census of all the people in his empire.

(KJV) And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.
