Translations

(Etheridge) But he, the elder son, was in the field; and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard the voice of music;

(Murdock) But his elder son was in the field; and as he came and drew near to the house, he heard the sound of the singing of many.

(Lamsa) But his elder son was in the field; and as he came near the house, he heard the voice of the singing of many.

(KJV) Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
