Translations

(Etheridge) -

(Murdock) And this they said, tempting him, so that they might have [ground] to accuse him. But Jesus having stooped down, was writing on the ground.

(Lamsa) They said this to tempt him, that they might have a cause to accuse him. While Jesus was bent down, he was writing on the ground.

(KJV) This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
