Translations

(Etheridge) But this he said, not because for the poor he had care, but because he was a thief, and the purse was with him, and whatever fell into it he carried.

(Murdock) And this he said, not be cause he cared for the poor, but because he was thief, and held the purse, and carried what was put in it.

(Lamsa) He said this, not because he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and the purse was with him, and he carried whatever was put in it.

(KJV) This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.
