Translations

(Etheridge) And I have written to you this very [epistle] , lest when I come they grieve me, they who ought to refresh me. But I confide in you, that my joy is that of all of you.

(Murdock) And I wrote that very thing to you, lest when I came, those persons whom I ought to make joyful, should make me sad. For I have confidence concerning you, that my joy is the joy of you all.

(Lamsa) And I wrote this same thing to you, so that when I come to you I may not be made sad by those who ought to make me joyful; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.

(KJV) And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all.
