Translations

(Etheridge) But when the first came, they expected to take more; but they also received each a denarius.

(Murdock) And when the first came, they supposed they should receive more; but they also received each a denarius.

(Lamsa) But when the first ones came, they expected to receive more; but they also got each one a penny.

(KJV) But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.
