Translations

(Etheridge) He came for the testimony, to testify concerning the Light, that all men might believe through his ministry. ^{[By his hand.]}

(Murdock) He came for testimony, to bear witness concerning the light.

(Lamsa) He came as a witness to testify concerning the light, so that every man might believe by means of him.

(KJV) The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
