Translations

(Etheridge) He willed, and begat us by the word of truth, that we might be the first-ones of his creatures.

(Murdock) He saw fit, and begat us by the word of truth; that we might be the first-fruits of his creatures.

(Lamsa) It is he, who begot us of his own will with the word of truth, that we should be the firstfruits of his creatures.

(KJV) Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
