Translations

(Etheridge) But to rejoice it behoves us, and to be glad, because this thy brother was dead, and is alive; and was lost, and is found.

(Murdock) But it was proper for us to be merry, and to rejoice; because this thy brother was dead, and is alive; he was lost, and is found.

(Lamsa) It was right for us to make merry and rejoice; for this your brother was dead and has come to life; and was lost and is found.

(KJV) It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
