Translations
(Etheridge) You are the salt of the earth: but if it happen that salt become tasteless, with what shall it be seasoned? It goeth for nothing but to be thrown without and trodden down by men.
(Murdock) Ye are the salt of the earth! But if the salt become insipid, with what shall it be seasoned ? It is fit for nothing; but to be thrown out, and be trodden under foot by men.
(Lamsa) You are indeed the salt of the earth; but if the salt should lose its savor, with what could it be salted? It would not be worth anything, but to be thrown outside and to be trodden down by men.
(KJV) Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.
