Translations

(Etheridge) For men swear by one greater than themselves: and every controversy which occurs among them hath a sure conclusion in the oath.

(Murdock) For men swear by one greater than themselves: and in every controversy that occurs among them, the sure termination of it is by an oath.

(Lamsa) For men swear by one who is greater than themselves: and in every dispute among them, the true settlement is by oaths.

(KJV) For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.
